Tunisia’s and Algeria’s FMs both call for a ceasefire in Libya

Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum and his Tunisian counterpart Khemaies Jhinaoui met in Tunis on Friday 22 April and called on the Libyan parties to halt hostilities immediately to end the bloodshed of the Libyan people. Both sides affirmed that the resolution of the Libyan crisis can’t be military, stressing the imperative of the resumption of inclusive inter-Libyan dialogue and the preservation of the political process as the only solution to the Libyan crisis in accordance with the provisions of the political agreement, aiming to complete the transitional period and the elections under the auspices of the United Nations. The two ministers stated their country’s support for UN efforts led by UN Special Envoy for Libya Ghassan Salamé. On the other hand, FM Boukadoum and FM Jhinaoui spoke of the responsibility of the international community in resolving the crisis through the support to the Libyan parties for the completion of the political process.
