Over 550 irregular migrants held in Turkey

At least 559 irregular migrants were held in north-western Edirne province, according to security sources, reported Anadolu Agency. Operations were launched in Ipsala, Meric, Kesan and Uzunkopru districts of Edirne by gendarmerie forces and border troops and caught 559 irregular migrants. The migrants, including Palestinian, Syrian, Iraqi, Moroccan, Persian, Somali, Afghan, Algerian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals, were attempting to cross to Europe. Some 268.000 irregular migrants were held in Turkey in 2018, according to the Interior Ministry.
