On 11 and 12 February, Palestinian National Authority’s President Mahmoud Abbas met in Riyadh Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. During the meeting Saudi King Salman expressed his commitment for a Palestinian independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Mohammed bin Salman also confirmed his efforts to guarantee “the legitimate rights of Palestinian people to establish their independent state” as Saudi governmental press agency reported. This visit came a few days before the US-led conference in Warsaw on the 14 February, in which the US offered “hints of their proposals for peace between Israel and the Palestinians” as Al-Jazeera reported.
