On Monday 6 May, an Egyptian-mediated ceasefire agreement was reached with Israel and to begin at 4:30 AM that same day as reported by Hamas Palestinian officials, read Ha’Aretz. The agreement was reached to end the recent surge of violence in the Gaza Strip and southern Israel. In two days of fighting, over 600 rockets were fired from the Strip to southern Israel, killing four Israelis and wounding four more. Israeli airstrikes on Gaza killed 23 Palestinians.
