From 23-25 April, the 8th Moscow Conference on International Security was held in Moscow, organized by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. Syria and Iraq were discussed among other issues. United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix delivered a welcome address at the conference on behalf of the UN Secretary-General. Deputy Defence Miniter Colonel General Aleksandr Fomin stated that there is a serious shortage of dialogue between the defense ministries in the current international arena, remarking the large attendance of the forum. Arrived on 22 April, Kheiri Al Tamimi, head of Haftar’s Libyan office, attended the next day the conference, setting up interviews including a live broadcast on a Russian state TV channel.
