Consultation Circles on the new Pact: Building the Mediterranean of tomorrow
On 13–14 May 2025, the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) will convene a two-day consultation on the New Pact for the Mediterranean, in partnership with the Policy Center for the New South in Rabat. Organised in the framework of the EuroMeSCo Consultations Circles, and building on the network’s established structured dialogue processes, this event will offer a priviledged space for exchanging ideas and strategic perspectives with key stakeholders from North Africa, in view of shaping the forthcoming European Union’s main political framework for strengthening cooperation with its Southern Neighbourhood partners.
Co-funded by the European Commission, this consultation aims to ensure that the voices and priorities of regional actors are meaningfully reflected in the design of the Pact and its implementation. The dialogue will focus on three strategic dimensions critical to the region’s future: fostering economic growth through trade, investment and stronger engagement with the private sector; empowering youth by aligning skills development with employment and mobility opportunities; and promoting sustainable transitions through climate-sensitive approaches to agriculture, water management, and environmental resilience.
Drawing on local expertise, successful practices and real-world insights, the consultation will contribute to anchoring the Pact in the realities of the Southern Neighbourhood, and aligning it with the aspirations of both shores of the Mediterranean.
