Mission and objectives

The Centre for Economic Research on Mediterranean Countries at the Akdeniz University was established in 1997 to promote relationship between Turkey and Mediterranean countries within the framework of the Barcelona Conference.

In order to achieve its institutional goals, the Centre conducts research activities related to socio-economic issues and integration efforts in the Euro-Mediterranean. The centre focuses especially on free trade agreements, agriculture, energy, tourism and migration issues. The centre also provides consulting services.

The CREM has also participated in many collaborative research projects such as Euromed Heritage II, Recovering Markets, Traceback, Bioenergy, Local Products in Mediterranean Countries, Sustainmed, Femise and EuroMeSCo research project on migration.
